A Courtesan's Rebuke
To abide
Thou priggish,
"Better late
Than never"Attitude!
Not the wine,
Nor the food.
Not the music,
Nor thy countenanceCan turn my head.
Perhaps another time.
But tonight
My favors
Belong to.......
Another.

ReplyDeleteBrilliant period piece! Amazing how your ear has so deftly picked up the era. It sounds exactly right for what I imagine the 17th century to be. I love the protagonist's attitude and of course the title, "A Courtesan's Rebuke." Good job!
ReplyDeleteLoving this one, Rel! Caught the feel of the scene fabulously!
ReplyDeleteI like your take on this too. Made me smile and yes, i love the word priggish as well.
ReplyDeleteThe other! For he (or she) that sits dimly in the shade is often the light in the darkness.
