Columbus Day Weekend

This weekend past, we here in The US commemorated Columbus Day while our friends to the north in Canada celebrated Thanksgiving.
Although I was on call Fri., Sat., & Sun The Gods were kind to me and I had two epidurals and 1 c-section. All on Sunday and during daylight hours. That coupled with the fact that two of our three children came home for the weekend made for a terrific holiday. The weather was perfect "indian summer" and conducive to fall clean up chores.

As with most things, many hands make light work. J. brought his girlfriend home to "Meet the Parents" and what a delightful young woman she is. Very down to earth, she asked how can I help to D. who was neck high in flower bed cleaning.

While the girls weed wacked the flower beds, J. and I "swept" and power washed the garage. The 2nd story houses my gym.

Monday after our daughter left to return to Albany, D. and I did a marathon fall chore clean up. As well, I installed a new carpet on the closed in porch. I travelled around the neighborhood just before supper to snap some of the local color. The two spectacular maples in our yard are just starting to turn. They are usually some of the last trees in the village to turn and to drop their leaves.

"The night was clear and the moon was yellow
And the leaves came tumbling down"

LLOYD PRICE lyrics - "Stagger Lee"

What beautiful autumn colours.

Sounds like you got a lot done on your weekend, despite being on call. And your son's girlfriend looks lovely - as does D!

Nice photos of the girls and the tree colours are fabulous. Have to say that I think my entire house would fit inside your garage - probably twice over! :) Glad you had such a good weekend with your two children home - it's always nice when that happens.

The trees are really lovely - for some reason, the leaves look like they have "turned" much more where you are than where I live, although some trees are starting to look very nice.

And the son's girlfriend looks really cute, as does D.

Wow! That's quite a yard you've got. Here in Vegas I have a little sandy square. Thanks for sharing your yard!

I am puff, puff, puffing through in Dr. John's Marathon.

I'm so glad you got to see some of your kids and that you got help also!! Sounds like there was quite a bit of work to do but it's a good feeling once it's all done! Oh Rel, I just love the pictures of the trees...what beautiful shots!!!

What a pair of lovely ladies. :)

I have to agree with everyone else about the tree pics, too. Ours are pretty much bare here now. Sometimes it goes like that, depending on the autumn winds. Last year we got to enjoy the colours for weeks, but this year it was one of those blink and you'll miss it deals. But there's enough colour in blogland to make me feel like I haven't missed out!

Thanks for showing us your home and family. The girls and the trees are gorgeous.

LOVE the shots of your house. How funny to have a garage the same size as your house! But the apartment idea was a stroke of genius. Who knows how it might someday be used.
