Considering Quebec might never be if it wasn't for Champlain, I'm glad they are restoring his statue. Did you know he died on Christmas Day 1635...he certainly was one of the greatest explorers of those times!

Is this the man that Lake Champlain was named after? I regret to say that I know nothing about him, it's just that I've stood on the Vermont side of the lake and seen New York State on the other side. It's good that he's being restored to his former glory anyway. Think I must do some Googling and find out about him.
