Even though it's techniquely a non-exercise day, I did a 5+ mile walk this morning. The temp was 24°F and up above Main street the wind was biting. Walked out to the Windmill quikstop and bought some eggs and half and half, and the Watertown Times. I continued to Terrace Park before returning to the village and the comforts of home. I'm going to have to research Terrace Park. From just todays cursory scan, I'm wondering if it doesn't have more houses than the village.

Did some routine household chores, cleaned the litter boxes, cut up the cardboard for recyclables, did my laundry, waxed the treadmill so as to keep it from skipping, read some blogs, and took a nap. Also read the paper, said a prayer for Darlene and her son, and tried to come up with an idea for Sunday Scribblings prompt for tomorrow.

Thursday the 25th ofJanuary is the anniversary of Scottish Poet Robert Burns birthday. Burns has never been a favorite poet of mine because I have to work too hard to understand his language. He seems to have been a colorful character whose boozing and carousing did him in at the delicate age of 37. I feel I must investigtae this man more and see what all the fuss was about. Particularly in light of the following quote from Lord Byron:
"Allen...has lent me a quantity of Burns' unpublished and never-to-be published Letters. They are full of oaths and obscene songs. What an antithetical mind! - tenderness, roughness -- delicacy, coarseness -- sentiment, sensuality --soaring and groveling, dirt and dignity -- all mixed up in that one compound of inspired clay!"

You certainly did have a busy day! I've heard of Robert Burns of course but really don't know much about him except that he was a Scottish poet and had quite a wild reputation. Now you have me curious to learn more about him:-) That picture of the ice crystals in a tire rut is just awesome...looks like a bunch of worms at first! lol Hugs xox
