There are lots of ways of being miserable, but there's only one way of being comfortable, and that is to stop running round after happiness. If you make up your mind not to be happy there's no reason why you shouldn't have a fairly good time.

That sounds like "settling" for what is instead of striving for so much more.

Interesting concept.

Funny, because in Edith's work it seemed like she was pretty content.
To be creative in any form is to bring some sort of happiness to your life don't you think?

Well, that's how it works for me anyway. I'm very miserable when I'm not living creatively, and those around me know it!!

I think this is just another way of saying be happy with what you've got.

If I've said it once, I've said it a million times...It's all about expectations.

I can see what she's saying - we can never be blissfully happy all the time, so it's best to get in the mindset of enjoying the ride of life as best we can, with all its ups & downs.

At least that's how I interpret it.

Great thought for the day, Rel :)

The more you think about what she's said the more you realise it's very true. You can have a positive outlook and make the best of whatever happens in life but you can't chase happiness - it just arrives every so often.
Enjoyed all your pictures of France, looks like you had a great time. Been away over the weekend and spent yesterday looking after K so no time for computer stuff.

Now that makes a hell of a lot of sense...why didn't someone tell me that earlier?
