When I got home from the thumb twiddling contest yesterday, D. was in the orchard pulling weed tree seedlings and she discovered a number of yellow Morel mushrooms. We'd never seen any morels before and were quite impressed. Don't think we're brave enough to eat them though.morels

never eat mushrooms you pick yourself.. a friend of my parents whole family accept him died when he was a child from eating mushrooms they had picked themselves...
Everyone in Iowa hunts and eats morels. They're really good fried up with butter and crumbled saltines. They also sell them here at the farmer's market for at least $10 a lb.
That is the coolest looking mushroom I've ever seen!
I don't eat mushrooms unless I can buy them from a store or a restaurant.
Just sayin...
