Signs of spring. NaPoWriMo # 12
signs of spring abound:
First inning; yanks against the Red sox.
Harleys growl on Main Street,
The sunset silhouettes my shadow
as I grow taller, heading home.
Two young drunks solve their world's drama
behind the local bar.
Neighbors kibitz on front stoops by the way,
and sip a beverage, discuss the game.
A father skims the detritus
from the newly uncovered pool.
Five teens play their own version
of march madness; street basketball,
While redwings cheer them on.
The trill of nature's choir greets the blooming
purples--yellows breaking through the sod.
The cold of ebbing winter
fades from our memory as we embrace
by budding elements of spring.

Sooner or later, we're heading for autumn. We should be there now, but it's still summer!
