Send in the Clowns for Magpie #259

Garish red lips beckon seductively,
Collecting supplicants hither and yon.
Always taking, never giving, empty.
Bon vivant pretender, disguised still;
Costumes, veil, egos hide insecurity.

Not tonight, I'll spend my tokens elsewhere.

In a very sad (but true) way, your poem reminds me of dear Robin Williams. Such smiles, such a gift for evoking laughter... such sadness where it counts.

spending tokens else where, that's an option which works without changing the masters.
