Stalker

I almost missed him,
sitting there on the low hanging branch
just inches from the ground.
What the...?
Is that an illusion?...

 I don't recall that object
in my memory's eye.
Wait, an eagle?
No, too small, but wait...
A bird for sure.

Stalking.
The jays, chickadees, doves
even the squirrels
Have disappeared from the feeder.
Fetch the binoculars.

wait, don't go.
the red tailed hawk
soars off
without breakfast,
this time.

stalkers are like ghosts,

they haunt us and scare us, but no harm done in general if you know it well.

a bird or an eagle,

that does make us open our eyes,

we can be specific and true,
we can be abstract and remote,

life does give us options and we can enjoy our freedom and write life as romantic and decent.

glad to see your inner wonders.

lovely title,
this makes us wonder what we are seen by others
and how we react if being assumed or how we feel when we take others as outsiders
