# 67 Slippery

0530 Sunday morning, I sit at the dining table sipping last night's coffee rewarmed in the microwave. Peering out through the curtained window, the glassy surface of the river beckons to me; "slide your kayak into me and feel the pleasant relaxation float up into your body and mind."

The lustrous surface changes; pocked by raindrops.

Birds at the feeder, wet, sleek, and unfazed by the rain, pick out their favorite breakfast bites.

Picnic tables, and docks glisten with their wetness, sleek and shiny.

Slippery when wet!

Rain clouds have persisted over us the entire weekend, bringing that slow, steady gentle rain that soaks the ground and feeds the vegetation. In contrast, the drizzle dampened the hope of "Good Luck" to many 07/07/07 weddings. One such wedding party was trying to get their wedding photos taken out on the end of the neighbors dock in between showers. If not a lucky day, then a memorable one. They stepped carefully on the slippery surface to avoid greater wetness awaiting below.

Can you just imagine the wedding couple falling off or jumping off the dock on purpose into the water -- that would definitely be a memory not easily forgotten! And I think weather likes to be a prankster on wedding days, anyway. This was a really nice post -- and I like the image of the birds eating breakfast unfazed by the rain.

Rel -

Nice post my friend... very 'visual', and a bit dangerous at the end.

Wonderful images but I can't imagine braving that dock in a wedding dress. Glad no one took a wedding dip.

I'm with Tammy - wouldn't want to get near a slippery dock in a wedding dress or anything other than a bathing suit!

I didn't realize 7/7/7 was supposed to be a big wedding day. I'll bet this didn't happen last year on 6/6/6/.
Nice post.

So if 7/7/07 was an inspiration to couples,
Will 8/8/08 also be inspiring? (Glad your title didn't go where my mind thought it would go! :)
